  • Public Meeting and Public Comment Period – Draft Round 4 Restoration Plan 

    The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, together comprising the Massachusetts SubCouncil of the Housatonic River Natural Resource Trustees (MA SubCouncil), will hold a public meeting on May 1, 2019, at 5:30 PM at the Lenox Public Library (Welles Gallery), 18 Main Street, in Lenox, MA, to present the Draft Round 4 Restoration Plan and Supplemental Environmental Assessment (RP/SEA) for the Massachusetts Housatonic River Watershed Restoration Program (Restoration Program). Round 4 of the Restoration Program will provide a means to disburse up to $1.5 million of the approximately $7.75 million recovered from General Electric to fund compensatory restoration projects that restore, rehabilitate, replace, and/or acquire the equivalent of injured natural resources and their services in the Massachusetts watershed of the Housatonic River.

    The Draft Round 4 RP/SEA presents the MA SubCouncil’s preferred compensatory restoration projects for Round 4 of the Restoration Program. The Draft Round 4 RP/SEA will be subject to public comment for a 30-day period beginning on April 16, 2019, and ending at 5:00 PM, May 15, 2019. The Draft Round 4 RP/SEA is available on-line at www.ma-housatonicrestoration.org/library and hardcopies are available at the Lenox Library and other public libraries in the Housatonic River watershed.

    The MA SubCouncil will receive public comments during the May 1, 2019, public meeting, and written public comments on the Draft Round 4 RP/SEA will be accepted until May 15, at 5:00 PM, at:

  • Grant Announcement and Application for Restoration Projects in Round 4 of the Housatonic River Watershed Restoration Program 

    The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) Natural Resource Damages (NRD) Program, as Lead Administrative Trustee for the Massachusetts SubCouncil (MA SubCouncil) of the Housatonic River Trustee Council for the GE/Housatonic NRD settlement, announces the release of the Grant Announcement and Application (Doc. No, BWSC-NRD-2018-12) announcing Round 4 of Restoration Project funding under the Housatonic River Watershed Restoration Program and soliciting proposals for Restoration Projects. The total value of available funding for Round 4 Restoration Projects is approximately $1,450,000. Multiple grants may be awarded. Details regarding project eligibility and instructions for submitting a grant application are provided in the Grant Announcement and Application package.

    The Grant Announcement and Applications will be available online on the MassDEP NRD Program website at: http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/massdep/cleanup/nrd/nrd-restoration-funding-opportunities.html and on the Commonwealth Procurement website (COMMBUYS) at: www.commbuys.com.   • Round 4 Informational Meeting to be held on June 26, 2018:  The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, comprising the Massachusetts SubCouncil of the Housatonic River Natural Resource Trustees (MA SubCouncil), will host a pre-Grant Application and Announcement (GAA) informational meeting to discuss the fourth and final round of funding (Round 4) of the Massachusetts Housatonic River Watershed Restoration Project.  Click Here to view the announcement.  The MA SubCouncil plans to release a GAA for Round 4 in August 2018 in order to disburse up to $1.5 million to restore, rehabilitate, replace, and/or acquire the equivalent of injured natural resources and services of the Housatonic River Watershed in Massachusetts.  This informational meeting is being held in advance of the GAA being released to provide an overview of the process and allow potential applicants the opportunity to discuss project ideas with the MA SubCouncil.  Procurement rules prohibit the MA SubCouncil from consulting with potential applicants to develop project ideas once the GAA is issued.  Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting or contact the MA SubCouncil before the GAA is issued to refine project ideas and obtain feedback.

    RESCHEDULED Open House and Public Meeting – MA SubCouncil will hold an open house and public meeting on TUESDAY, MAY 1, 2018, at 5:00 PM, at the Lenox Town Hall. Restoration projects funded through Rounds 1-3 will be highlighted at the open house from 5:00 – 6:15 PM and the MA SubCouncil will discuss Round 4 from 6:30 – 7:30 PM.

  • GE/HOUSATONIC RIVER NATURAL RESOURCE RESTORATION “OPEN HOUSE”

    The Massachusetts SubCouncil of the Housatonic River Trustee Council cordially invites you to an “Open House” on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Town Hall in Lenox to showcase completed restoration projects from Rounds 1, 2 and 3 (2004 – 2017) of the Massachusetts Housatonic River Watershed Restoration Program and to discuss Round 4 of the restoration.  The schedule of events will include the following:

    • 5:00 – 6:15 PM: Project proponents and partners will feature projects that they have undertaken through funding from Rounds 1, 2, and 3. The projects restore, permanently protect, educate and provide public access to aquatic and wildlife habitats and resources throughout the Housatonic River watershed in Massachusetts.  You will be able to view and learn about the projects in an informal setting at displays arranged around the room.  A full list of projects is noted below. 
    • 6:30 – 7:30 PM: The MA SubCouncil will discuss moving forward with Round 4 of the restoration with estimates on anticipated funding. 
    • 7:30 PM: Adjourn

  • Public Meeting – MA SubCouncil will hold an informational meeting on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at 5:30 PM, at the Lenox Library, Welles Gallery, 18 Main Street in Lenox, Massachusetts.  At this meeting, the MA SubCouncil will discuss the anticipated fourth and final round of funding, including the anticipated August 2018 release of a Grant Application and Announcement (GAA) soliciting proposals for Round 4 Restoration Projects.

  • Public Meeting – MA SubCouncil will hold an open house and public meeting on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 5:00 PM, at the Lenox Town Hall in Lenox, Massachusetts.   Restoration Projects funded through Rounds 1- 3 of the Restoration Program will be highlighted from 5:00 - 6:15 PM and the MA SubCouncil will discuss Round 4 of the Restoration Program from 6:30 – 7:30 PM.

  • Public Meeting – MA SubCouncil will hold a public meeting on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at 5:30 PM, at the Lenox Library, Sedgwick Reading Room, 18 Main Street in Lenox, Massachusetts.  At this meeting, the MA SubCouncil will provide an overview of the proposed Amendment to the Round 3 RP/SEA and solicit comments.

  • Public Meeting – MA SubCouncil will hold an Applicant’s Conference on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at 5:30 PM, at the Lenox Library, Sedgwick Reading Room, 18 Main Street in Lenox, Massachusetts.  At this meeting, the MA SubCouncil will review the Grant Announcement and Application for the second subround of Round 3 land protection projects and will address attendees’ questions regarding the grant application process.

  • Public Meeting MA SubCouncil will hold a public meeting on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 5:30 PM, at the Lenox Library, Sedgwick Reading Room, 18 Main Street in Lenox, Massachusetts.  At this meeting, the MA SubCouncil will provide an overview of the anticipated funding, timeline, and approach for soliciting, evaluating, and selecting a second subround of Round 3 land protection projects. 

  • Public Meeting MA SubCouncil will hold an Applicant Conference on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, at the Lenox Library, Sedgwick Reading Room, 18 Main Street in Lenox, Massachusetts. At this meeting, the MA SubCouncil will review the Round 3 Grant Announcement and Application and will address attendees’ questions regarding the grant application process.

  • Public Meeting – MA SubCouncil to present the Final Round 3 Restoration Plan / Supplemental Environmental Assessment for Land Protection and Habitat Conservation and discuss the Round 3 Request for Responses that is anticipated to be released later this year - August 5, 2013, Lenox Library, Sedgwick Reading Room, 5:30 - 7:30 PM.
